Pastel Goth Morticia Makeup Tutorial

If you’ve been keeping up with the Always Uttori Howli’een tale (the end of the tale to come this weekend), then you’ll have met Pastel Goth Mortica.

It’s been fun creating the character of Pastel Goth Morticia, my personal costume spin on Morticia Addams of the Addams Family. I’m not revealing the full look until Halloween, but I filmed a makeup tutorial for Morticia’s Pastel Goth look. If you’ve read the Why Shopping at Sephora Makes Me Want to Cry series, then you know I’m no makeup guru. It’s not perfect, but I had fun filming the video, even if it doesn’t look that way!  When we survey Always Uttori Readers, one person requested more make-up tutorials. I don’t think this is what you meant, but I hope you can still enjoy it.  It’s our first video, so, even though it’s not perfect, we’re still excited. Let us know what you think.

If you’d rather have a step-by-step guide to the look, the instructions are listed below.

Pastel Goth Morticia Makeup Look:

  1. Start with a cleanly washed and moisturized face.
  2. Using your fingertips, put a makeup primer over your face. I used Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield.
  3. Using a beauty blender, put a color corrector on any red spots or blemishes, and under the eyes. I used Becca Backlight Color Corrector in Pistachio.
  4. Once all the blemishes have been covered, cover your face with foundation using a beauty blender. I used Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H.
  5. Once the foundation is done, it’s time for the eyes. Put a primer over your eyelids. I used the Becca Backlight Priming Filter to add some extra shimmer to the overall look.
  6. Using an angled eye-shadow brush, rub a vivid purple over the top lash line like an eyeliner. I used the Karity Frost Pallet, but any bold, highly pigmented eye-shadow will work. The purple color I used from the Karity pallet was called Queen. Do this to both eyes.
  7. Take a vivid pink eye-shadow and blend it with the purple at about the halfway point of your eyelid, blending out toward the outside of the eye. I used the color Overdose from the Karity Frost Pallet.
  8. With a rounded eye-shadow brush, take a shimmery neutral color like a light tan and brush over the brow bone and blend down into the purple and pink on the lash line. Repeat on other eye.
  9. With a liquid eyeliner, create a winged eyeliner. I used Kat Von D’s Tattoo liner. Because I have round eyes, I started the winged liner in the middle of my eyelid rather than going all the way to the end because I didn’t want to accentuate the roundness of my eyes.
  10. With a black eyeliner pencil, fill in the bottom waterline. Repeat on other eye.
  11. This is optional, but I used Julep’s eye brow gel to brush out and shape my brows.
  12. The eyes are done, time for the lips. Using a lip brush, outline the lips in a black liquid to matte lipstick. I used Lime Crime Velvetines in Black.
  13. Fill in the lips with a pink liquid to matte lipstick, I used Lime Crime in Velvetine in the color Cupid.
  14. Finally, only in the center of the lip, use a bright pink to add dimension to the ombre look. I used Bite Beauty in Kimchi.
  15. To finish off the look add a pastel colored wig. I used a silver wig I got off of amazon. You can find it here.
