Introvert Life – Christmas Fashion Look 1

We’re talking the ghost of Christmas past with this Introvert Life Christmas Fashion Look. In true INTJ “fashion,” everything (except for the shirt and bag) is more than 5 years old. Let’s face it, buying Christmas gifts can get pretty pricey.  Add in Christmas activities, such as going to the ballet (to see The Nutcracker, for instance), or attending a madrigal dinner, or some other sort of entertainment, buying a hostess gift for a party, and any of the other numerous incidentals that come with the Christmas season, and that idea of buying a nice outfit to see, and be seen in, can make it feel as though you’ll never get those credit cards paid off. By adding two newer, on trend pieces to this look, I was able to give a fresh feel to clothes I’ve had for years. As femme dangel readers know, we INTJs don’t really pay attention to trends. I’ve only begun to do so because of the blog. Designers are already releasing fall/winter 2017 fashion looks; and it’s clear that they’re not done with bold sleeves and fabric embellishments. However, while the bold sleeve trend has finally trickled down into more affordable pricing, the embellishment side isn’t so cheap. This is unfortunate. Embellishments are a fun trend, one that I think plays to the INTJ’s imaginative intuition and extravagant sensing functions. However, it’s not too difficult to add your own embellishments. The jewels on my sleeves are actually vintage art deco style earrings that belonged to my great-grandmother. I poked the needle of the earring through the wool jacket and used the earring back to secure it. Voila! Instant embellishment. I love the sparkle and the sense of connection to that legacy of women who came before me (the earrings were gifted to me by my grandmother). To be honest, I never thought I would be able to use the earrings, but now I just love the way they look with this outfit.

As we discussed in INTJ Principles of the Holidays, INTJs often hold tightly to certain traditions. However, that doesn’t mean that we don’t appreciate creating new traditions. This outfit is a combination of the old and the new, and by joining the two, it does create something new.  By the way, did you notice the background on the photo? Although I’m certain the graffiti isn’t necessarily appreciated by the railway system, this sweet message, sent to someone named LB, made the perfect backdrop for this ghost-of-Christmas-past- and-present photo.

  1. Love the outfit! The lines are simple enough that it really focuses on the sleeves. I like that you were able to incorporate jewelry into it, too! I have some vintage pieces that I’m always trying to figure out how to wear, usually scarves.
