Only a few days left before October comes to an end. That means the end of Subtleween too. If you’re planning on entering the Always Uttori Subtleween Contest, make sure to share your own Subtleween looks! Full details about how to enter here.

As for today’s Subtleween look . . . Where to start? Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is one of my favorite books. The movies, directed by Peter Jackson, came out when I was in Jr. High, and fueled a deep obsession with fantasy fiction and the Tolkien universe. In fact, I’m due for another reading of the books, but haven’t yet found the time. Anyway, I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that Legolas was my favorite character from the movies. Legolas is an ISFP and, while this may seem like the complete opposite of an INTJ, in actuality the ISFP and INTJ share the same cognitive functions, merely in different order. The ISFP leads with introverted feeling, while introverted feeling is the third function for the INTJ. The ISFP’s second function is extroverted sensing, but for the INTJ, it is their last function. Introverted intuition and extroverted thinking are the ISPF’s last functions, while these are the INTJ’s dominant and secondary functions.

The good news for INTJs is that, apparently, with some rearranging of our functional stack, we can all become Elvish super-archers like Legolas. Life goals. Of course, if the elf life is not really your thing, you can still channel the elves of the Woodland Realm with a low-key Subtleween costume. In the pictured outfit, I’m channeling Orlando Bloom as Legolas. In fact, from that perspective, what Legolas wears is pretty INTJ.

What’s INTJ About It?

  • As a Wood elf, Legolas wears practical attire. His clothes act as camouflage for the various environments the fellowship travels through. The colors are muted and monotone, although much of his attire is in pale silvers, blues, and greens. What could be more INTJ than practical clothing that allows you to fit into your environment?
  • Wood elves do comfortable. My version of Legolas’s look is also comfortable. It’s just not practical to wear something uncomfortable while running around the world, unless you are, I don’t know, a dwarf.
  • Legolas is also a prince, so while his outfit is practical, it’s also high quality. In the Lord of the Rings universe, opulence is often shown with fine fabrics and quality. INTJs appreciate fine quality, well-made clothing so this hits a component of INTJ fashion we don’t often talk about on the blog.
  • And yes, if you’re wondering, two of the photos show my eyes Photoshopped blue. Just for fun. 😀 In fact, all the pictures are highly Photoshopped because these are older pictures, taken with our ten-year old Sony; they were pretty grainy to start with.  Hope you enjoy our foray into the the fantasy world of Lord of the Rings. If anything, this Subtleween look proves that you can turn almost any outfit into a Subtleween costume.
