Not to say that when you’re a girl boss you’ve got to wear pants, but there are times that menswear inspired can add a bit of a boss touch. Spring Fashion Girl Boss Fierce Look 5 doesn’t have as many feminine touches as our previous menswear-inspired look, but it still brings the fierce. The ruffled, stand-up collar with western-style necktie is definitely more simplistic in styling; yet, the contrast of black and white with shades of gray do still make a bold statement. I’m a fan of coordinating color so the black pants, with white windowpane check pattern, repeat the colors in the shirt.  The tapered pant length is typically seen on a more casual style of pant, but we can call this business casual, especially as the color palette is neutral.  By the way, speaking of color neutrals, the black and white pairing proves that, while bright colors are attention grabbing, they’re not necessary to command attention. I love a bright color, and I’m trying to incorporate more strong color into my wardrobe, but I do think using bright colors to grab attention can come across as gimmicky, or comedic, rather than boss fierce. That’s not to say don’t wear them, but the use of color should always be intentional. When your girl boss fashion is understated, the attention is on your message and on you — as it should be.

There is a saying that fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it.  Girl boss, or not, my personal fashion style is quirky, so the tweed platform shoe with a check pattern mirroring the pants is more a reflection of my personal style. A pair of sleek (and by sleek I mean 3-inch with a hint of shine) pumps would amp the fierceness of this Girl Boss look. Personal style, and the fact that I have never been able to match my platform shoes with any other look, is the reason for the shoe choice.

Trend Notes:  Good news for INTJs, black is on trend for fall 2017, along with white, gray, and other color neutrals.
